Part Time Admission Counselor and Event Coordinator

Position Title: Part Time Admission Counselor and Event Coordinator
Department: Admissions
Reports To: Director, Admission Operations and Communications

Position Summary:
The Admission Counselor and Event Coordinator serves as the primary first counselor contact for all individuals inquiring about the academic programs at Vermont Law School. In addition to serving as an admissions counselor, this position coordinates and manages all on-campus admission events. As a key member of the admissions team this position helps manage vital functions such as recruitment, counseling, individual campus visits, virtual and on-campus events, and social media. This is a 12 month part-time position.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as primary first point of contact of all leads by calling and counseling prospective leads/inquiries within 24 hours on the academic offerings, opportunities, and admissions processes for each academic program.
  • Conduct counseling appointments in-person, and by phone, email and Skype as necessary.
  • Manage, maintain, and expand the Campus Visit Program, including on-campus events and individual campus visits. Schedule campus appointments, create detailed itineraries, conduct campus tours, organize student tour guides, and contact faculty and other departments as necessary to accommodate visitors.
  • Assist with lead/inquiry and application processing operations, which include all residential and distance learning programs.
  • Coordinate and implement all secondary mailings (postal and electronic) using databases and mail merge software.
  • Answer a variety of correspondence via telephone, e-mail, in person, web chat, or social media.
  • Assist in the coordination of blog, online registration and the planning and hosting of all virtual events.
  • Maintain and expand alumni and admission ambassador programs.
  • Begin to develop an International Student Admissions program to counsel and assist international students through the admissions and enrollment process.
  • Perform general administrative work for the department. This may include, but is not limited to: general word processing, database report generation, phone/office reception, making appointments, coordinating meetings, photocopying, and mail screening/sorting.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree required.

    Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Experience working with international populations a plus
  • Database and/or CRM management
  • Intermediate technology competency, including experience with social media
  • Higher education experience in admissions, international admissions, and/or student affairs preferred
  • Knowledge of basic web design, HTML, WordPress (or other CMS) preferred
  • Required Skills:

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially creating and using spreadsheets
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to handle all applicants and parents tactfully
  • Ability to maintain a sense of humor in highly stressful situations
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Hours will be a combination of mutually agreed upon traditional, evening, and weekend times
  • Some travel will be required
