James Ernest Hanson
Morristown, N.J. (Trustee since 2005)
Jimmy Hanson is president of Hampshire Companies, a real estate investment fund management firm that invests in industrial and retail properties. The company currently owns 224 properties in thirty states.
Jimmy Hanson formerly oversaw the Asset Services Division for the Eastern Region of CB Richard Ellis. This region comprises a portfolio of more than 70 million square feet with operating offices in Toronto, Boston, Providence, Hartford, Stamford, New York City, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Richmond, Charlotte, Raleigh, Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, and Southern Florida.
His career in real estate began immediately after graduation from law school when he joined Hampshire Management Company, his family-owned real estate investment and development company founded by his grandfather.
His primary responsibilities were overseeing the investment portfolio of 10 million square feet of properties located in 27 states and arranging the debt/equity structures for Hampshire's investment acquisition and development projects. In 1995, Hampshire Management Company entered into a joint venture with CB Richard Ellis to provide asset services in New Jersey. In four years, this venture grew to a portfolio of over 12 million square feet, establishing CB Richard Ellis as the premiere asset service provider in New Jersey.
From the joint venture, Mr. Hanson joined CB Richard Ellis in 1998 to oversee the Asset Services Division for the Northeast, and his duties have been expanded to cover the entire East Coast.
